About Hekayat
In Arabic, Hekayat means stories, narratives, tales and anecdotes. It Is a theme not exclusive to Art and Design, but relatable across many disciplines. Anyone and everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, nationality can relate to stories. Stories are how we create meaning. Stories are universal. Stories are human. At the heart of Hekayat was process - the journey of an idea reaching fruition. The conference highlighted and celebrated the journey itself as an outcome. Hekayat invited the audience and attendees rethink stories and processes in a multitude of ways through a series of talks, workshops, exhibitions, and activities.
The Co-Chairs
I along with my three amazing co-chairs Yasmeen Suleiman, Noha Fuad and Hadeer Omar, offered a new dynamic as Alumni of VCUarts Qatar. We occupied that sweet spot between student and faculty/professional, that enabled us to understand and maneuver within both realms.
The Conference
The conference took place at VCUarts Qatar Doha from March13th to 15th 2019. The website for snippets from the event can be visited here
